Bolesławiec criminal investigators caught a 38-year-old resident of Warta Bolesławiecka commune red-handed as he broke into the fuel tank of a lorry and began draining the fuel. The incident took place in an unguarded and unlit car park.
When the thief saw the officers, he fled. It did him little good. The suspect was arrested after a short chase.
The police prevented the theft of 300 litres of fuel worth more than PLN 1,200.
The 38-year-old has already been charged. He now faces between one and ten years in prison.
