The incident took place on December 5, at around 2:00 p.m., in Lubin. As the 20-year-old resident of the city was leaving his building, he found car keys in front of the entrance. In the parking lot, he found the vehicle they belonged to and… went for a drive, inviting his girlfriend along.
He later abandoned the car outside one of the stores in Lubin municipality. As he admitted himself, he did not know what to do with the vehicle next. (As it later turned out, the stolen car belonged to the suspect’s neighbor).
Based on surveillance footage, criminal investigators from Lubin identified the theft suspect just two hours after the report was filed. It turned out to be a 20-year-old who was already well known to the officers.
The man was arrested and placed in a police cell. He has already been charged. He now faces between one and ten years in prison.
