The competition was entered by the best command sections, teams and groups, as well as topographical teams of the Polish Armed Forces, competing in their authorized formations and selected during earlier unit-level eliminations. A commission from the Toruń Centre assessed the competing soldiers’ theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Nine teams took part in the topographers’ competition, competing in events including a theoretical and practical knowledge test for team commanders, map reading, determining geographic coordinates, determining distances using a short-base resection, and a suspended traverse. Bolesławiec’s artillerymen were represented by Senior Corporal Mariusz Skrętowski, Senior Private First Class Jacek Tur, Private First Class Aleksandra Stec and Private First Class Mateusz Cebulski.

Competition among the reconnaissance groups was even tougher. Twenty-one teams were tested on conducting reconnaissance, determining target coordinates and fixing an observation post. The final test was a tactical loop: an almost 30-kilometre orienteering march during which they had to complete a series of special tasks, such as identifying silhouettes of combat equipment, reading map content, estimating the distance to a target and firing for accuracy. Here too, the artillerymen from Bolesławiec proved unbeatable. Senior Staff Sergeant Krzysztof Fekieta, Corporal Radosław Machnij, Senior Private First Class Grzegorz Piechurski and Senior Private First Class Stanisław Grasza took first place.

The combat-readiness competition was summarized by the group commander, Deputy Head of the Rocket Forces and Artillery Board of the General Command of the Branches of the Armed Forces, Colonel Andrzej Kupis, who honoured the winning teams with cups and letters of congratulations. The best reconnaissance soldiers and topographers received congratulations from the commander of the 23rd Artillery Regiment, Colonel Grzegorz Potrzuski, as well as expressions of respect from their colleagues for winning first place among Polish Armed Forces units.
