We can reassure everyone concerned about whether there will be somewhere to go ice-skating in Bolesławiec: there will be! Contrary to online insinuations, there are no plans to close the Bolesławiec ice rink. The final technical work is currently underway to open this attraction, which is very popular with the residents of Bolesławiec.
Where will the ice rink be located?
As in the previous season, the facility will be located on the grounds of the MOSiR Water and Sports Centre on Spacerowa Street.
Why there? The ice rink had to be moved from Popiełuszki Square when construction of a hotel began there.
However, it is possible that the facility will return to the city centre. The relocation of the mobile ice rink to the area near the municipal stadium on Spółdzielcza Street is being considered. Whether this will happen, however, is not known. It all depends on the cost of such an investment.
Why has it not opened yet?
The culprit is… the weather, or rather its anomalies. For the facility to begin operating, the ice-rink surface must be frozen for the first time. Unfortunately, this will only be possible when the temperature remains around zero for approximately one week. (Once the initial freezing has taken place, the ice surface can be maintained using an aggregate).
