Bolesławiec Aquapark Orka is to undergo a major modernization. As Bolesławiec mayor Piotr Roman informed the City Council during its August session, a project concerning changes to the facility is being prepared. One of the issues to be considered is the future of the gym operating at Orka. The mayor pointed out that further places offering this type of service are being established in Bolesławiec:
We need to consider, among other things, whether the gym at Orka should continue to exist, because several new gyms are currently being opened in Bolesławiec.
The head of the city authorities also stressed that any changes would concern the gym at Orka, not the one operating at Termy Solankowe Bolesławiec.
He added that, in such a situation, city officials would have to consider what could replace it. “There are several ideas,” the head of the city authorities noted. “If you have any ideas, please share them as well.”
What instead of the gym?
The mayor’s statement indicates that closing the gym at Orka is currently one of the options under consideration, rather than a final decision. If the city chooses this solution, the space it occupies would be used in a different way.
The matter is particularly significant because, until recently, the future of the gym at Orka had been the subject of questions from residents. At the end of June, MOSiR announced that it was closed until further notice.
As Paweł Dul, director of the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre, explained to istotne.pl at the time, the reason was safety concerns related to the high temperature in the room located beneath a sheet-metal roof.
