Pro bono activities and achievements in the fields of culture, social assistance, health promotion, ecology, activities supporting people with disabilities, and all other activities that engage the local community will be assessed.
This year, the competition formula has been expanded. The county board decided to add a fifth category – occasional volunteer. This will provide an opportunity to reward more people who organise, for example, one-off educational campaigns or charity collections; it is a group from which it is difficult to fairly select a leader.
Following the change, the “2019 Volunteer of the Year of Bolesławiec County” will be selected in five categories:
- youth volunteer
- adult
- donor
- non-governmental organisation
- occasional volunteer.
The most deserving volunteers will be selected by a chapter comprising: the Bolesławiec County Governor (or a person appointed by him); the head of the Department of Civic, Social and Health Affairs; the head of the County Promotion Section; and the winners of the title from the two most recent editions of the competition.
The awards ceremony will take place on December 5 at the Old Theatre.
