Physiotherapists, dietitians and nurses will visit all primary schools in Bolesławiec County. At least 1,000 children from grades III–IV will undergo examinations.
Bolesławiec County:
The physiotherapist will determine the type of condition and recommend appropriate treatment to correct postural defects; they will advise what to do to prevent the defects from worsening in the future.
The dietitian’s role will be to convince children and parents to adopt a balanced, healthy diet and engage in physical activity. Obesity, lack of exercise, hours spent in front of a computer and an increasing number of exemptions from physical education classes are the main causes—apart from congenital defects—of problems with the spine, hip joints, knees and so on. Children grow into adults who suffer from these problems, require intensive rehabilitation and often undergo surgery.
The screening and diagnosis campaign for postural defects will begin on Friday, 25 October at Primary School No. 1.
