The incident took place on Sunday, 20 October, at around 5:00 p.m. The duty officer at the Lubin County Police Headquarters received a report of a drunk driver on Ścinawska Street.
Road-policing officers immediately went to the scene. There they found an Audi vehicle, with a 58-year-old resident of Lubin County behind the wheel. A strong smell of alcohol could be detected from him. It turned out that the suspect had nearly 3 per mille of alcohol in his system.
How was the drunk driver stopped?
A woman driving a Citroën on national road No. 36 noticed an Audi leaving the allotment gardens near the aforementioned Ścinawska Street. The driver of the vehicle was driving across the entire width of the road.
The woman who reported the incident signalled to the man to stop. When he parked his vehicle, the woman and other witnesses took his keys and notified the police.
The 58-year-old lost his driving licence. He may now face up to two years in prison.
