The agreement concerns the purchase of two zero-emission buses with alternative electric drive systems, together with the accompanying infrastructure. The total value of eligible expenditure is PLN 4,002,000. Funding from the Regional Operational Programme of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship 2014–2020 amounts to 85% of the expenditure, i.e. PLN 3,401,700.

– Last year, EU funds enabled the purchase of 13 new low-emission buses. Today, we are providing funds for another two – says Cezary Przybylski, Marshal of the voivodeship.

The tender for the purchase of the buses will be announced later this year. The electric buses will take to the streets of Bolesławiec in 2021, as the waiting time for delivery of an ordered bus is nearly one year.

City Hall:

It is worth mentioning that cities investing in environmentally friendly fleets are following a global trend. Electric buses are quiet and completely emission-free at the point of use, which contributes to residents’ health.

Mayor Piotr Roman points out that introducing free public transport throughout the city and replacing the MZK municipal bus fleet are further elements in improving air quality in Bolesławiec.

City officials add:

Modern buses and free public transport are intended to encourage as many people as possible to use public transportation.
