Lubin police:
Safety is everyone’s shared responsibility, which is why more and more people refuse to accept drunk and irresponsible drivers on the roads. That is exactly what a witness to an incident in Lubin Municipality did.
Seeing that the perpetrator of the collision, who had been travelling in a Mercedes passenger car, was driving away from the scene, the man decided to follow him. He also notified the duty officer.
After a while, the Mercedes driver stopped in front of his home. When he got out of the car, the reporting party took his keys and told him that the police had already been notified.
Officers detained the 48-year-old. The witness’s suspicions were confirmed: the Mercedes driver was completely drunk, with more than 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his system.
What is more, it turned out that the Lubin resident was banned from driving motor vehicles and was also… wanted by the authorities. He had a five-month prison sentence to serve.
The 48-year-old, who was initially placed in a police cell, will be taken to prison. He may now face an additional sentence of up to five years in prison.
