The incident occurred on Monday, September 30, in the afternoon. A man approached a traffic police patrol and informed the officers that a Peugeot driver had hit his car and then—as if nothing had happened—driven away.

The victim described the perpetrator’s car to the officers. They located the vehicle and signaled the driver, a 25-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County, to stop. However, he did not stop; on the contrary, he began to flee.

While fleeing, the man nearly rammed a police car.

At one point—already near Łaziska—the fleeing car collided with another vehicle, went off the road and overturned. But this did not stop the 25-year-old. On the contrary, he began fleeing on foot. He was apprehended shortly afterward.

It turned out that the 25-year-old was drunk; he had 1.2 per mille of alcohol in his system. What is more, he was also subject to a court ban on driving.

Moreover, it came to light that the extremely irresponsible driver was wanted—he was due to serve a nine-month prison sentence for… violating a court ban on driving.

The offender now additionally faces up to five years in prison.
