On September 24, and within just 3 hours, as many as 5 people from Bolesławiec County received a call from a “daughter” asking for financial help in connection with a road incident. Neither the resident of Warta Bolesławiecka municipality nor the 4 female residents of Nowogrodziec municipality were deceived. They all ended the phone call and notified the police officers.

Let us remember that the principle of “limited trust” toward strangers applies not only to children. Adults often forget about it and become victims of their own gullibility and lack of prudence.

Unexpected calls from people claiming to be family members, grandchildren whom we have not seen for a long time, nieces or cousins do not have to end in financial loss if we follow two basic rules:
- discuss unusual situations that happen to us with other family members
- report any suspicious requests to borrow money to the police.
