Our Reader asked us to publicize the issue. In an email to the editorial team, she wrote: “I suggest walking along the section of pavement on al. Wojska Polskiego from the intersection of Zwycięstwa and Okrzei streets to the next one—Podgórna and Zygmunta Augusta. Especially on the side with odd numbers.” She added: “Walking on the dry surface is a nightmare, and after rain, such a walk is almost impossible. Does nobody see this?”

“These pavements really are old and leave much to be desired,” admits Roman Palczewski, head of the District Roads Authority. “But is this the top priority? I realize that everyone would like to walk on perfect pavements. Unfortunately, it is impossible to satisfy everyone.”

As we have established, this year’s budget of the County did not allocate funds for this purpose. “It is not that we are trying to shirk our responsibilities,” Palczewski assures us. “We carry out as much repair work as our funds allow.”
