They work in various types of schools and educational institutions. For the first time, they took the examination in its new format. In addition to presenting their professional achievements and answering examination questions, each teacher also presented a proposed solution to a problem related to their work and completed practical tasks using multimedia tools.

The largest groups among those examined were preschool teachers (6), early-years education teachers (4), and English teachers (4). All of them achieved a higher professional grade. By 31 August, the mayor will present them with certificates granting the appointed-teacher grade.

Let us recall that the professional promotion system for teachers has been in operation since 6 April 2000. The individual promotion grades (trainee, contract, appointed, and certified) reflect the stages of teachers’ professional development.

Between 2001 and September 2019, 783 examinations were held for contract teachers obtaining the qualifications of appointed teachers.

The professional promotion grade is closely linked to employees’ remuneration. Expenditure on the salaries of Legnica’s education employees constitutes the largest item among all education expenses, reaching nearly 70 percent of the total.

In the 2018/2019 school year, trainee teachers accounted for 2 percent of the staff in Legnica schools and institutions (23 people), contract teachers for 10 percent (126 people), appointed teachers for 19 percent (240 people), while certified teachers—those with the highest qualifications—accounted for approximately 70 percent of all employees (869 people).
