At the end of May, the central stage of the fourth edition of the “Skilled in the Profession” competition, organized by the OHP headquarters, concluded at the OHP Education and Training Centre in Pleszew. Nearly 100 participants from the Voluntary Labour Corps took part.

Young hairdressers, small-catering cooks and carpenters competed in the event. In the latter category, Bartosz Kuczyński and Marcin Migdalski, students in the third year of Basic Vocational School No. 5 at Zespół Szkół Handlowych i Usługowych in Bolesławiec, won second place in the country.

The competition consisted of two stages. In the first, OHP participants solved tests. In the second, they completed practical tasks. “We had to make a wall-mounted chipboard cabinet,” Bartosz explains. “It wasn’t easy. On a daily basis, we mainly work in construction,” says Marcin. “But we managed.”

The two carpenters prepared for the competition for a month under the supervision of carpenter Henryk Nawrot. “In Pleszew, they performed like professionals,” emphasizes Jacek Nesler, commander of the OHP in Bolesławiec. “They made a professional piece of furniture that shops could successfully sell.”
