On Saturday night, an officer from the Independent Preventive Police Unit—in his free time—stopped a drunk driver. The officer became suspicious when he saw the woman slaloming through cones set up on Poznańska Street in Legnica. Having witnessed the entire incident, the officer immediately overtook the woman driving a Renault and blocked her further progress.
He then got out of his vehicle and ran over to the driver to check what had caused such irresponsible driving. A strong smell of alcohol came from the woman.
The officer identified himself to the 35-year-old woman, showing her his service ID, and asked her to remove the keys from the ignition and get out of the vehicle. She immediately followed his instructions.
The officer informed the Legnica police dispatcher about the entire incident, and the dispatcher sent a uniformed patrol to the scene.
It turned out that the 35-year-old woman had 1.3 per mille of alcohol in her system. She now faces up to two years in prison.
