The “Safe Weekend – Corpus Christi 2019” police operation began on the roads of Lower Silesia on Wednesday morning and will continue until 23 June, late into the evening. In addition to traffic police officers, many preventive-service officers will take part in the operation.

Provincial Police Headquarters:

The main aim of these activities is to ensure the safety of people travelling throughout our region. Despite improved driving standards and compliance with road traffic regulations, there are still drivers who fail to follow the rules in force on the roads. The most common offences, which repeatedly become causes of serious road incidents, include excessive speed, overtaking in prohibited places, technical defects, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police officers will also monitor the situation on the roads and work to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Officers appeal to everyone using the roads to exercise common sense and caution while travelling:

Let us remember that during last year’s long weekend, there were 38 road accidents in which 2 people died and 51 were injured. Police officers detained 128 intoxicated drivers.
