Police Headquarters:
Unfortunately, with each passing day the map will become less and less clear, as new points will be added. Every point represents a human tragedy!
The ongoing update, especially the visualisation, is intended to draw attention to the scale of the tragedies occurring on Polish roads.
What do you think? Will this be an effective method? We invite you to join the discussion.
Police officers: “Road accidents are usually not a matter of chance. Almost every incident involves dangerous behaviour by a driver or pedestrian. Many tragedies could be avoided if basic rules of caution and safety were followed.”
How can you improve your safety?
- respect traffic regulations, particularly the permitted speed limits, sobriety requirements, use of seat belts and proper transportation of children in vehicles
- limit telephone conversations to a minimum, and use a hands-free kit when necessary. (A telephone conversation, even through permitted devices, distracts the vehicle driver)
- adjust your speed to the weather and road conditions, your skills and your psychophysical state
- signal your manoeuvres on the road sufficiently early and in such a way that they are visible to other road users
- always slow down before pedestrian crossings, public transport stops and junctions
- do not overtake or pass vehicles in the vicinity of pedestrian crossings, stops or on the crossings themselves
- always take breaks during journeys lasting several hours
- check the vehicle’s technical condition before departure, especially the tyres, lighting and levels of operating fluids.
