On June 13, officers from the Traffic Division of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec, supported by police officers from Zgorzelec, Kamienna Góra, Jelenia Góra and Lwówek Śląski, conducted intensified operations aimed at improving road safety.
The officers checked the sobriety of 208 drivers and also seized 7 registration certificates due to the poor technical condition of the vehicles. Moreover, 46 people were fined for various traffic violations.
In addition, 4 intoxicated drivers were detained. In Różyniec, officers detained a 56-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County who got behind the wheel with more than 2‰ of alcohol in his breath—and a court-imposed driving ban. Another drunk driver was detained in Iwiny; the 65-year-old had 1.7‰.
Meanwhile, a 22-year-old detained in Gromadka was driving under the influence of drugs, while a 36-year-old without a driving licence got behind the wheel with nearly 3‰.
All the detained drivers are residents of Bolesławiec County. Three of them face up to two years in prison. The one who violated the court-imposed driving ban could be imprisoned for as long as five years.
