On Thursday, 28 May, a press conference was held at the district office with the participation of the district head Cezary Przybylski, Dariusz Kwaśniewski, a member of the Bolesławiec District Board, and Roman Palczewski, head of the District Roads Authority. During Thursday’s meeting, Dariusz Kwaśniewski spoke, among other things, about the “Modernisation of Vocational Education in Lower Silesia” project.
“This is a unique project covering the whole of Lower Silesia,” the official stressed. According to the district authorities, the undertaking is exceptional for many reasons. “Firstly, because the regional government will be responsible for implementing projects that fall within the remit of districts,” said Cezary Przybylski. “Secondly, because 29 local governments managed to reach an agreement, and that is genuinely difficult.
The project took two years to develop. “We held several dozen meetings,” Kwaśniewski recounted. “The Convention of Districts of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship encouraged the district heads to reach an agreement on this matter. We succeeded.
At the end of April, the regional government decided that the project would receive funding. As part of the modernisation of vocational education, equipment worth more than PLN 50 million will be purchased, of which devices worth more than PLN 6 million will go to Bolesławiec.
The modernisation will cover the seven most important vocational sectors for the region: construction, electrical power and electrical engineering, information technology, mechanical engineering, mechatronics and electronics, automotive, and tourism and catering.
Three educational centres will be established in Bolesławiec. Students from Jelenia Góra, Zgorzelec and Złotoryja, among others, will study in our city. Adaptation work is currently under way at district schools. It is not yet known when the centres will begin operating. The exact date will probably be announced in June this year.
