On the May weekend (25–26 May), volunteer firefighters from Raciborowice (Warta Bolesławiecka municipality) took part in the National Games in Fire Sports for Volunteer Fire Brigades at Grodziec Castle. On the basalt, post-volcanic and steep hill where battles and knights’ tournaments are usually held, an unusual firefighting competition took place for the second time.
The firefighters competed in the following events:
- passing through a tunnel made from a tree branch
- passing over a fallen tree branch – height 0.95 m
- wooden wall, height 1.5 m
- transporting hoses over a wall 1.5 m high
- running between poles with an injured person on a rescue board
- running with breathing apparatus, suction hoses or other props through the castle ruins
- passing through a barrier
- jumping over a water ditch
- running across a 6-metre balance beam and building a sandbag embankment
- transporting an injured person on a rescue board through obstacles
- passing through a vertical ladder 2 m high
- building a suction line
- building a firefighting line for two streams
- unrolling and rolling up a hose into a double circle while maintaining the specified distance between couplings
- running with hoses through obstacles or a slalom
- transporting firefighting equipment up the stairs of the castle ruins
- passing through a pool filled with firefighting foam.
The Games’ results were determined by the time taken to complete the course and the accuracy with which the tasks were performed. Penalty points were awarded for incorrectly performed activities. The more points recorded by the judging committee, the lower the final placing.

For the second time, the organisers—that is, the firefighters from OSP Grodziec—demonstrated their commitment and took care of the participants, the proper running of the competition and attractive prizes for the winners.
