The incident occurred on Thursday, May 30, in Bolesławiec. We received a report from the police about a missing five-year-old, Mikołaj. Shortly afterward, we updated the information because the boy was found very quickly, and, for the sake of accuracy: two seven-year-olds – Dominik Czekalski and Mateusz Razik (first-grade students at Primary School No. 4 in Bolesławiec) – helped the officers find the five-year-old.

This is what happened: our Reader, Mr. Grzegorz, Dominik’s father in private life, went for a walk on Thursday afternoon with his family and friends. Dominik and his best friend Mateusz moved away from the group; they went to a playground.

After a while, Dominik called his father and asked him to come as quickly as possible because the two first-graders had met a little boy who was very sad and told them that he had lost his parents. (When Mr. Grzegorz arrived, the sought-after Mikołaj was no longer there).

At one point, however, a police patrol appeared in the area. Dominik and Mateusz approached the officers themselves and told them about the whole situation. They added that the little boy who had lost his parents was supposed to go to the playground by the preschool on Mikołaja Brody Street. The officers did indeed find the missing boy there.

“I was shocked,” the proud father told istotne.pl. “At a time when everyone is constantly hurrying and staring at their phones, they took an interest in what had happened to the boy. They approached him themselves and asked what had happened.

Congratulations to the parents of both wonderful seven-year-olds! And to the boys – a round of applause for their civic-minded attitude.

We will return to this story.
