What should we remember?

  • safe swimming means swimming in a designated area that is properly marked and where a lifeguard is responsible for safety. Unsupervised bathing areas always have an unknown bottom and depth; moreover, the water there may be contaminated
  • do not swim along shipping routes or near water facilities and structures
  • let us follow the regulations of the bathing area where we are staying. Let us follow the lifeguard's comments and recommendations
  • do not jump into the water when overheated. Before entering the water, wet your chest, neck, nape and legs with it – this will help you avoid thermal shock
  • never enter the water or swim after consuming alcohol
  • while sunbathing, pay attention to the people around you. It may turn out that someone will need our help
  • if we are able to help, let us do so, but within the limits of our capabilities. If we do not feel able to help, let us immediately alert other people and the emergency services
  • let us not forget that water is an element that can pose a huge threat to people.

Police officers: “If we follow basic safety rules, we can ensure that our time spent relaxing near the water is enjoyable and ends happily.

And they add:

Let us remember that safe swimming depends largely on us!
