The incident occurred on Monday, June 3, in the morning, at the 57th kilometre of the A4 motorway toward Zgorzelec.
The driver of an Audi passenger car rear-ended a white van. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital in Bolesławiec with suspected spinal injuries. Fortunately, it turned out at the scene that he had not suffered anything more serious.
The man travelling in the Audi fled the scene. He was arrested some time later. At the time of his arrest, his blood alcohol level was 3‰. He explained to the officers that he had become so upset that he had to have a drink. (An expert is to determine whether that was really the case.)
What is more, the perpetrator suffered a head injury in the collision and was taken to a hospital in Legnica.
Both participants in the incident are residents of Bolesławiec County.
