The incident occurred on Sunday, May 24. The driver of an Opel Kadett crashed into the back of a Volkswagen and then tried to drive away from the scene of the accident. After driving several dozen metres, he got out of the car and began to flee on foot.
Based on the description provided by the Volkswagen driver, police officers identified the perpetrator of the accident. He turned out to be a 28-year-old resident of Nowogrodziec Municipality. At the time of his arrest, the man was completely drunk. He had a blood alcohol level of 2‰.
He now faces up to 4.5 years in prison.
