The Lubin traffic police received a report of a collision involving two vehicles. At the scene, officers determined that the 71-year-old, a resident of Lubin Municipality, had crossed into the opposite lane, where a 46-year-old Wałbrzych resident was driving an Opel correctly.
The senior admitted fault. He was issued a fine.
However, when the police checked him in the system, it turned out that the 71-year-old should not have been driving at all; among other things, he was subject to a court-imposed driving ban.
What is more, the officers smelled alcohol on the senior. Their suspicions were confirmed by a test. The 71-year-old admitted to the officers that he had previously drunk two beers. (It is worth adding that the resident of Lubin Municipality had previously lost his driving licence for driving under the influence.)
The man was detained. He now faces up to five years behind bars.
