- 18:00 – opening of the exhibition “Jewellery and Precious Stones from the Collections of the Museum of the Bohemian Paradise in Turnov”
The Museum of the Bohemian Paradise in Turnov has been collecting historical and contemporary jewellery for 30 years. The nature of the collection is determined by centuries-old local traditions related to the processing of precious stones. The nearby Jizera Mountains and Karkonosze Mountains are famous for the extraction of precious stones: agates, jaspers, amethysts, carnelians, Bohemian garnets and olivines. From the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries, gemstone cutting developed in Turnov, gaining worldwide renown before the Second World War. In 1884, the first vocational school in Europe specialising in cutting and setting precious stones was established here. The collection showcases the extraordinary transformation of a raw stone into elegant, unique jewellery. The exhibition presents traditional 19th-century garnet jewellery, works created at the craft school and contemporary original jewellery produced during international jewellery workshops held in Turnov since 1984.

The National Museum in Kielce has the largest collection in the country of ceramics from Poland’s oldest continuously operating factory in Ćmielów. The Ćmielów manufacture owes its establishment to Jacek (Hiacynt) Małachowski of the Nałęcz coat of arms. The factory in Ćmielów began operating in 1809 as a faience factory. Production of the porcelain still valued today began here in 1838. Today, “Ćmielów” is a leading porcelain manufacturer which, thanks to its original designs, is conquering global markets. This is also largely due to the pioneering “Ćmielów Design Studio” design workshop, operating since 2013 and headed by Marek Cecuła.
The exhibition offers an overview of Ćmielów ceramic production, from the mid-19th century to objects created after 2000. The representation of more than 350 exhibits makes it possible to trace changes in porcelain-manufacturing technology and showcases the diversity of decorative techniques. The objects on display include timeless figurative designs by Bogumił Marcinek, Adam Siemaszko, Mieczysław Naruszewicz, Lubomir Tomaszewski and Hanna Orthwein, as well as the “Goplana” service by Wincenty Potacki and the “Dorota” service by Lubomir Tomaszewski, known to enthusiasts of Polish design.
