The county celebrations of International Firefighters’ Day were held in Ocice. The ceremony was organized by the Bolesławiec County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in cooperation with the Board of the County Branch of ZOSP RP, the head of Bolesławiec Commune and the management of the local volunteer fire service unit.

Before the ceremonial assembly, which took place at the People’s House, the firefighters honored Saint Florian by attending a Mass celebrated by Rev. Prelate Dr. Habil. Andrzej Jarosiewicz at the parish church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Ocice.

During the assembly, attended by deputy commander of the State Fire Service’s provincial headquarters in Wrocław, Brigadier Piotr Grzyb, acts conferring higher service ranks were presented to non-commissioned officers and rank-and-file firefighters of the Bolesławiec State Fire Service Rescue and Firefighting Unit. The county commander, Junior Brigadier Andrzej Śliwowski, promoted three firefighters to higher positions: specialist rescuer and special equipment operator. (The medals for merit to the firefighting service were presented to the honored volunteer firefighters by Zbigniew Bożęcki, a member of the Board of the Provincial Branch of ZOSP RP.)

Later in the ceremonial assembly, on the basis of a decision by the Chief Commander of the State Fire Service, the act incorporating the Volunteer Fire Service unit in Ocice into the National Rescue and Firefighting System was also presented. This was done by the commanders together with the head of Bolesławiec Commune, Andrzej Dutkowski.

On this important day for the entire firefighting community of Bolesławiec County, the ceremony was also honored by the presence and good wishes of Deputy Bolesławiec County Head Mirosław Horzempa, head of Warta Bolesławiecka Commune Mirosław Haniszewski, head of Gromadka Commune Dariusz Pawliszczy and deputy mayor of Nowogrodziec Andrzej Drąg.

Among the invited guests with whom the firefighters cooperate on a daily basis were former county commanders of the State Fire Service from Bolesławiec, representatives of the State Forests, police, the Polish Armed Forces, friendly firefighting units from Germany, as well as supporters of the fire service.
