As officers established, on 7 May at around 3:00 p.m., a woman pretending to be the senior’s granddaughter called the landline of an 83-year-old resident of Kowary (Jelenia Góra County). The fraudster informed the elderly woman that her son-in-law had caused an accident in which someone had been taken to hospital and that money was needed for the person’s surgery.

The fake granddaughter said that the son-in-law’s lawyer would come to collect the cash. He received several thousand zlotys from the victim.
