Police officers from the Bolesławiec road traffic unit and the officers responsible for combating economic crime, together with the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection, the Border Guard and the Road Transport Inspection, carried out activities related to checking waste transport.

On the A4 motorway, officers from Bolesławiec checked trucks transporting waste, including the technical condition of vehicles carrying waste, as well as documentation related to the load and the driver's work.

Officers in Lower Silesia checked 24 vehicles; in two cases, they found violations of road traffic regulations. The drivers were fined.

In one case, the transported load raised doubts, so the matter was referred to the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection.

With the aim of combating illegal waste transport, officers are already planning further activities in this area.

Officers add:

Each of us can help eliminate threats related to the illegal dumping of waste and prevent the degradation of the natural environment.

In addition to contacting your local community police officer directly, we remind you about a tool called the National Safety Threat Map. You can use it to mark situations that, in your opinion, pose a threat in a particular area. Police officers verify these reports, confirm them or not, and try to eliminate the threats. Among the various categories, there is also one concerning ILLEGAL DUMPS.

At the same time, we remind you that under Article 183 § 1 of the Criminal Code, a person who, contrary to regulations, stores, removes, processes, recovers, neutralises or transports waste or substances in conditions or in a manner that may endanger the life or health of many people or cause extensive destruction to the plant or animal world is subject to criminal liability and may face up to 5 years in prison.

However, under Article 154 § 2 of the Code of Petty Offences, a person who throws stones, rubbish, carrion or other waste onto agricultural land that does not belong to them may be punished with a fine of up to PLN 1,000 or a reprimand.
