Officers from the Police Station in Nowogrodziec received a report of the felling and theft of five trees from two neighboring private forests. The officers gathered information and determined where the stolen property might be located.
And indeed, at the identified property, police officers found a tree cut into pieces.
A forensic technician collected samples from the site of the theft and from the wood found at the home of the 33-year-old man from the Nowogrodziec municipality. The comparative material was sent to the Forest Gene Bank.
The result? An expert unequivocally determined that the wood secured by the police came precisely from the place where the illegal logging had occurred.
The 33-year-old admitted to the crime. He now faces up to five years in prison.
