Shock! The new bus shelter, which was erected opposite the entrance to the regional psychiatric hospital, has already been damaged. It has been covered with scribbles by some frustrated pseudo-graffiti artists.
We remind you that an act of vandalism can carry a sentence of up to five years in prison.
And we ask our readers: why are we unable to respect something that is a shared public good? We invite you to join the discussion.
We covered the issue of shelters (or, more precisely, their absence) in November last year. At that time, we reported that a reader wrote in an email to the editorial office:
I live near Tysiąclecia Avenue and use public transport. Some time ago, the bus shelters that provided protection from rain, wind and snow were removed.
He added:
At first I thought new ones would be installed because the old ones were badly damaged, but to this day there is still nothing.
As the reader pointed out, people who take buses to work very early in the morning were troubled by having to stand out in the open.
We managed to establish at the time that, for procedural reasons, the shelters would return to Tysiąclecia Avenue at the beginning of 2019. And they did.
But what good is that if one of them now looks like this, as can be seen in the photographs?!
