The destroyed part of the monument is very heavy. Tearing it out and throwing it down therefore does not look like accidental damage. Fragments of the demolished monument and traces left by the removal of the element remained at the site.

The area has already been cleared by municipal services. The remains of the destroyed monument were removed, and the site was tidied up. The police were notified of the act of vandalism. Officers were at the scene.

The event raises questions, particularly in the current international situation. Are we dealing with an ordinary act of vandalism, or perhaps was it a deliberate provocation? At this stage, it is not known who is responsible for the damage or what their motives were.

Regardless of politics, history and the assessment of the actions of the Soviet Union, and now Russia, or the burial places of the dead, including military cemeteries, should they not be treated with respect? The Soviet Soldiers' Cemetery is the resting place of people who died during wartime operations. Can history, political decisions or the presence of the Red Army in these areas be assessed differently, while at the same time acknowledging that this should not mean consent to the destruction of burial places?

Cemeteries, including military cemeteries, are places of remembrance for people who died. Their desecration is not the right way to settle accounts with history or to express opposition to contemporary politics.

The question therefore remains: is demolishing a monument in a war cemetery ordinary vandalism, or in the current international situation could it be an attempt at provocation?

What do you think about it?
