Officers from the Police Station in Kruszyn received a report of a break-in at a disused church in Warta Bolesławiecka municipality. According to the information received, sandstone slabs had been stolen (the building’s flooring).
Cooperation between police officers from Bolesławiec and Kruszyn quickly led to the identification of people who might have been connected with the crime.
Police detained two men who were proven to have stolen the sandstone slabs. The 42-year-old initially acted alone, but when his car broke down, he asked an acquaintance for help; the man provided him with transport.
The 42-year-old resident of Warta Bolesławiecka municipality was charged with two offenses: burglary of the church and theft. His accomplice, a 26-year-old resident of Bolesławiec municipality, will be held responsible for the theft.
Efforts to recover the stolen property are ongoing.
The older of the detainees faces up to 10 years in prison. The younger man could spend five years behind bars.
