On April 2, at around 8:30 a.m., a road incident occurred at the 90th kilometre of the A4 motorway, in the direction of Zgorzelec. Officers from the Legnica traffic police and other emergency services immediately headed to the scene.

Unfortunately, while travelling to the scene of the incident—one of the drivers was trapped in a lorry—the emergency services encountered many difficulties because the drivers had not created what is known as an emergency corridor.

Officers:

Time is crucial in saving the health and even the lives of people trapped in vehicles.

As we read on the website of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica

We remind you. Article 9 of the Road Traffic Act states that “a road user and any other person on the road are obliged to facilitate the passage of an emergency vehicle, in particular by immediately moving out of its way and, if necessary, stopping”.

This means that drivers who see and hear an emergency vehicle should move off the road and allow it to pass. Faster access to the scene of an accident speeds up the provision of assistance, and often it is minutes that determine the health and lives of accident victims. Do not remain indifferent—create an EMERGENCY CORRIDOR.

We would also like to remind you that the Emergency Corridor campaign was initiated, among others, by volunteer firefighters from OSP KSRG Czerna.
