Since the beginning of the year, police officers on the roads of Bolesławiec County have stopped 9 drivers who exceeded the speed limit in a built-up area by more than 50 km/h. In accordance with the applicable regulations, all of them had their driving licences confiscated.
Officers:
Let us remind you that the Act on Drivers of Vehicles contains new grounds for the administrative confiscation of a driving licence. One of these grounds is a serious violation of the speed limit in a built-up area—exceeding it by more than 50 km/h. In practice, detection of such an offence results in the driving licence being confiscated during the road check and sent to the competent county governor, who, by issuing an administrative decision, formally confiscates the document. The first time, this is for 3 months.
They add:
Detection of a person driving a vehicle again during the aforementioned 3-month period means that it is extended to 6 months. The next stage is the withdrawal of the entitlement to drive vehicles—its restoration is subject to fulfilling all the requirements imposed on a person applying for driving entitlement for the first time.
