On Wednesday, May 6, officers detained two men in Tomaszów Bolesławiecki—a resident of Lubań County and a resident of Zgorzelec County—who were transporting more than 23,000 packs of cigarettes without Polish excise-duty markings.

Moreover, at one of the private properties in Tomaszów Bolesławiecki, the officers found additional illegal packs of cigarettes and car parts that may have come from theft.

In total, the border guards seized more than 23,500 packs of cigarettes. The contraband was worth PLN 165,000.

Since the beginning of the year, officers of the Łużycki Border Guard branch have thwarted the smuggling of tobacco products worth approximately PLN 2 million.
