Wrocław Voivodeship Police Headquarters:
Let us be responsible and not risk our own lives or those of others. Our mistakes and omissions can unfortunately have tragic consequences. Let us try to avoid aggressive behavior on the road, and if such behavior occurs, inform police officers about it.
Every person who dies in a road accident is a tremendous tragedy for their family, loved ones and friends. Some of the questions that arise at such times are: why did this happen? Could it have been prevented?
Today we have increasingly better roads, faster and more comfortable cars, motorcycles and other means of transport, but the decisive factor in road safety is still the person themselves. It is they who make decisions whose consequences can vary greatly.
Now, as the days are getting longer and the weather encourages more frequent trips and leisure activities, Lower Silesian police officers are reminding people of the basic rules and road traffic regulations that affect safety on the roads.
How can we ensure safety?
- if we are going on a journey by car, motorcycle, bicycle or another means of transport, it is worth considering that by participating in road traffic, we affect its safety. Through our behavior and driving style, we can improve this safety, but we can also reduce it or even destabilize it. Police statistics continue to show that excessive speed and recklessness are factors that directly contribute to adverse events on the road
- let us remember that we are not alone on the road. Overtake where we can and are certain that such a maneuver will not create a hazard
- let us adjust our speed to the conditions on the road, not only observing the speed limits but also responding to the flow of traffic
- let us apply the principle of limited trust toward other road users
- as more and more people are riding motorcycles on the roads, let us check our mirrors more often and observe the road ahead of our vehicles.
- let us drive vehicles without being under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances
- let us be rested and focused on driving. If conversations with passengers distract us, let us limit communication to a minimum.
Officers:
Simply following the regulations does not guarantee that nothing will happen while driving. However, let us remember that respecting the applicable rules of the road, exercising self-discipline and restraining aggressive behavior in traffic will make us safer. Let us set a good example for others.
And they add:
Those who continue to break the regulations and take risks will face a firm response from Lower Silesian police officers. There is no and will be no consent for behavior contrary to the law, because human life is priceless. Officers will respond in every situation when an offense or crime occurs.
