What makes Prusa Street better than other streets that, from evening until morning, access to it is blocked by a bollard rising from the ground? Two restaurants operate on Prusa Street, with a parking lot in front of them. Unfortunately, it is impossible to drive up in the evening because the bollard effectively prevents access.
The question is: why? There are very few parking spaces in the city, while on Prusa Street parking is paid during the day, and in the evening one of the few parking lots in the very center is barricaded by a f***ing bollard.
And added:
What genius came up with the idea of installing such crap in the street! Maybe we should dig up bollards on Sądowa and Armii Krajowej too! Or perhaps some VIP lives on Prusa Street and arranged to have an automatic bollard installed in the roadway so cars would not drive under his windows...? Something is going on, because there is no logic in blocking a road with a bollard!
He also added:
And also 1 Maja and Chopina. The situation there is identical. This is some serious scam!
Agnieszka Gergont, spokesperson for Bolesławiec City Hall:
The existing solution on Prusa Street is a compromise between the expectations of the street’s residents and those of the business owners.
In previous years, Prusa Street was closed to motor traffic at the request of its residents (among other reasons, because of noise). However, business owners who run their companies on Prusa Street asked for the street to be opened to car traffic in order to increase the number of customers. At that time, the business owners proposed introducing paid parking to increase vehicle turnover, prevent vehicles from staying for many hours during store opening hours, and stop parking spaces in front of their shops (service outlets) from being blocked.
The spokesperson adds:
The solution in operation helps reduce the inconvenience associated with car traffic at night and increase vehicle turnover in front of service outlets during the day.
