On the night of 22 February 2019, a domestic dispute occurred in one of the apartments in Bolesławiec. During the dispute, 32-year-old Sebastian R. attacked his partner and their 3.5-year-old child with a knife. The man stabbed his victims. During the incident, the woman managed to leave the apartment and reach the stairwell, where she continued to be attacked by the perpetrator. One of the building’s residents noticed this and went out into the stairwell. The attacker then ran back into the apartment.
Police officers who arrived at the scene found the body of a woman who showed no signs of life and entered the apartment to arrest the perpetrator.
Sebastian R., holding a knife, then attempted to attack one of the police officers, who fired his service weapon in his direction, wounding him in the abdominal area. Sebastian R. was taken to hospital.
During an inspection of the scene, the body of a child was found below the windows of the apartment occupied by Sebastian R. and 32-year-old Wioleta S. The perpetrator had thrown the child through the window.
The victims’ bodies were secured for examination and autopsy. At the scene, under the direction of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec, an inspection of the scene was carried out, along with the discovery of the body of 3.5-year-old Filip R.
Witnesses to the incident were also interviewed. Further intensive procedural activities are currently under way.
Sebastian R. underwent a procedure and is hospitalized. His life is not in danger. If his health permits, procedural activities will be carried out with his participation without delay, including the presentation of charges and questioning as a suspect. He will also undergo examinations by expert psychiatrists.
It was established that 10 years ago the man was convicted of an offense involving abuse of a close relative. However, the conviction was expunged, and he is therefore currently not considered judicially convicted.
The crime committed by Sebastian R. is punishable by life imprisonment.
The investigation is being conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec.
