The PiS club in the Bolesławiec City Council has lost councillor Marian Kostecki. Why? The councillor voted in favour of the budget resolution, while Law and Justice councillors abstained. Consequently, M. Kostecki was accused of violating club discipline. As he himself says, however, he did not violate party discipline.

“Party discipline applies to party members; I have never been a member of PiS,” Marian Kostecki, president of the district branch in Bolesławiec, deputy president of Jarosław Gowin’s Agreement’s regional board and, until recently, a member of the Law and Justice club in the Bolesławiec City Council, explained to istotne.pl. “I believed that this budget should be supported because the draft budget included all the provisions of Morawiecki’s ‘five-point plan’, that is, the core of the United Right’s election programme. This project was imbued with the principle of social solidarity. I said so during the budget session and pointed it out to my fellow club members, but they did not understand it.”

According to M. Kostecki, the adopted budget of the City of Bolesławiec for 2019 “meets the expectations of voters of Law and Justice and the United Right”. “And I am a man of principles, the truest PiS supporter in this city—I modestly consider myself one,” the councillor emphasises.

Marian Kostecki also accuses the members of the PiS club in the City Council of particularism and “the attitude of an offended child”. In the councillor’s view, there was nothing to prevent PiS from forming a coalition with the Non-Party Local Government Activists, as it did in the Voivodeship.

Moreover, he considers the attempt to create a PiS–Civic Platform coalition in Bolesławiec County to be “political stupidity”. “I know there was enormous outrage in Warsaw,” he notes.

He adds that he does not intend to join the coalition of Non-Party Local Government Activists and Bolesławiec Land currently governing in Bolesławiec: “In politics, we never say ‘never’, but I am not planning to.”
