While patrolling the streets of Ołbin at night, Wrocław police officers noticed a passenger Opel. The vehicle had its entire rear window covered with tape, which caught the officers’ attention.

The officers decided to check the car, which was carrying two young men. Despite clear signals to stop, the men began fleeing, driving into courtyards in Ołbin.

A police chase began. During it, the Opel driver skidded and caused a collision with other vehicles parked on the street.

The men’s driving was dangerous, and the officers could not delay the arrest, so they blocked their way. Meanwhile, a second police car that joined the chase stopped right beside the driver’s door, preventing him from getting out.

When the officers approached the car, the vehicle suddenly reversed toward them. The officers managed to jump aside. They then fired their service weapons to stop the car. With its tires punctured by gunfire, the driver continued for several dozen metres and attempted to escape on foot.

One of the men was immediately arrested by the officers, while the other was apprehended several hours after the incident. The detainees are residents of Lower Silesian Voivodeship, aged 34 and 35.

The circumstances of the incident are currently being investigated.
