Officers from the Police Station in Nowogrodziec arrested a man suspected of stealing electrical cables. The perpetrator stole two coils of cable, with a total length of approximately 100 metres, from utility rooms.
Police officers who arrived at the scene of the crime searched the area near the victim’s property. Based on their findings, they identified and arrested the perpetrator red-handed—and quite literally. The suspect was caught while burning the stolen cables.
The man intended to sell the copper obtained in this way at a non-ferrous metal collection point. The 27-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County could now face up to five years in prison.
