What is happening with fuel in Bolesławiec? Legnica, Chojnów, Jelenia Góra. In all these cities, diesel fuel is below PLN 4.90, while here it is PLN 5.20. A DISASTER. Someone needs to write about this. Thank you.

On Friday (January 25), we checked fuel prices at Bolesławiec stations and, indeed, at most Bolesławiec stations the price of diesel fuel was around PLN 5.20 per litre. Only at the fuel station by the Tesco supermarket had the price not yet exceeded PLN 5. Diesel fuel there cost PLN 4.91 per litre. Meanwhile, petrol prices are slowly approaching PLN 5. At Bolesławiec stations, 95-octane petrol generally costs from PLN 4.88 to PLN 4.99 per litre. The Tesco station is also an exception here, with a litre of 95-octane petrol costing PLN 4.56.

How do fuel prices at Bolesławiec stations compare with national average prices? They are higher (except at the station by Tesco). According to the money.pl website, average fuel prices (January 24, 2019) were as follows: 95-octane unleaded petrol – PLN 4.79/l (+PLN 0.04/l), 98-octane unleaded petrol – PLN 5.12/l (+PLN 0.02/l), diesel fuel – PLN 5.04/l (+PLN 0.03/l), autogas – PLN 2.25/l (-PLN 0.03/l). Analysts predict that fuel prices will rise by another few groszy next week.

Almost 60% of the price of fuel consists of various taxes (excise duty, fuel surcharge, VAT, etc.). The price also depends on the cost of a barrel of crude oil on global exchanges and the dollar exchange rate. The seller’s margin is around 2%. Interestingly, station owners react to upward trends almost immediately by raising prices. However, when crude oil becomes cheaper, we have to wait longer for reductions.
