Prime Minister’s Office Head Michał Dworczyk announced that the ceremony would include state elements. Representatives of the state authorities, numerous delegations from around the world and many local government officials will attend the funeral ceremony, including Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman, who will represent Bolesławiec’s municipal authorities.

The urn containing the ashes of Gdańsk Mayor Paweł Adamowicz will be laid to rest in the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gdańsk. At 12:00, the funeral Mass will begin, presided over by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Gdańsk, Sławoj Leszek Głódź. A live broadcast of the mourning ceremony in the basilica will be shown on a large screen in Bolesławiec’s Market Square.

For several days, silent marches have been taking place not only in Gdańsk but also in many other cities. Residents take to the streets with candles, vigil lights and banners reading “Stop hatred” and “Stop violence”.

Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman encourages residents to bid farewell together to Gdańsk’s longtime mayor Paweł Adamowicz on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. in Bolesławiec’s Market Square. The participation of Bolesławiec residents will also be a gesture of solidarity with Gdańsk, as well as an expression of opposition to acts of violence and hatred.

“Bolesławiec – in solidarity with Gdańsk”: at 11:30 a.m. – lighting vigil candles together and arranging a large heart, followed by joint participation from 12:00 p.m. in the broadcast of the mourning ceremony from Gdańsk’s St. Mary’s Basilica, shown on a large screen (the side steps of the town hall).

Condolence books have been opened in many cities. Since January 15, a condolence book dedicated to the memory of Gdańsk Mayor Paweł Adamowicz has also been available in the lobby of Bolesławiec Town Hall.

Anyone who wishes to bid farewell to President Paweł Adamowicz in this way may make an entry during the opening hours of Bolesławiec City Hall:

  • Mon–Thu – 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
  • Friday – 7:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
  • On Saturday, the day of the funeral, the book will be available from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A period of national mourning throughout Poland will begin on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and end on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
