The arrest took place before Christmas, when officers from the Rudna Police Station were returning to their unit in a patrol car after completing activities in the municipality. An oncoming Daewoo passenger car was approaching. The driver's manner of driving immediately aroused suspicions that he might be intoxicated.
When the officers stopped the vehicle, its driver could barely stay on his feet after getting out. A strong smell of alcohol came from him. The test indeed showed more than 3.5 per mille. The 38-year-old resident of Rudna Municipality was arrested.
The man explained to the officers that he had ordered a Christmas tree and had to collect it. That was why he got behind the wheel of his vehicle in such a state.
He now faces up to two years in prison.
