Mayor Piotr Roman answered questions submitted on paper. He was kind to the kind, cordial to the cordial, laconic to the laconic, and mocking toward…

Those most interested—the people who asked their questions—found them among the pile of others, and I wish them satisfaction with the written answers they received.

What could be learned from them? A few extremely interesting things. But so that you do not have to wade through the text on another portal, I will provide a résumé.

Do you know what things the mayor would take to a desert island? He would take a “Computer with Internet access” so as not to read certain portals. A dog, so he would have a friend, and “some universal tool (a saw-axe?)”. He would add Adam Słodowy’s handbook, swimming trunks, and a toothbrush. A clean freak.

The mayoress likes chicken feet from broth, while the mayor likes aspic. Interesting facts. I am a fan of interesting facts, such as the one that the city mayor has taken offense at a portal, and its name does not pass his lips. Not even on paper. Mr. Roman prepares his press review from the materials of Telewizja Łużyce and the portal under its patronage, that is, bolca, from Azart Sat materials, and by looking through the free print and electronic editions of Express Bolesławiecki. I am impressed.

He also refused to allow later criticism of his answers. Why? He sends the critics to numerous forums, presumably thinking of the portal he does not visit, where they can engage in barren criticism far from his eyes.

I also found a set of two questions and answers that says more about the city’s promotion than any live conversation. An internet user asks whether the mayor saw on the portal he reads photographs showing, to quote: “please don’t take offense, the filth in Bolesławiec”. The mayor deftly replies that he has no idea which photographs are meant. Beneath this laconic answer, someone asked what the city’s promotion consists of. And there were wonders galore. I read it breathlessly. For there it stood as plain as day, like an ox staring at a painted gate:

  • organizing special events in the country and abroad
  • organizing themed conferences
  • distributing Bolesławiec promotional gadgets

For readers who do not speak English, I will explain that special events are simply special events. Call them what you will; it sounds just as enigmatic as organizing themed conferences or handing out those mysterious gadgets. I suggest handing out twenty złoty to everyone who wants to enter Bolesławiec at the city limits instead, but please, Ms. Gergont, do not do this. It would require two people: one handing out the money, the other counting it and making notes on a piece of paper. We could finally learn how many tourists encouraged by the municipal office actually visit our city.

I also had no idea that we cooperate with “national media: TVP, TVP INFO, TVP 1, TVN 24, TVN Meteo, ‘Travel Forecast’, Polsat, and recently with MDR (German) and RAI (Italian)”. Turn on your satellites today and check how many wonderful reports about our city are shown there.

Whatever it looks like in practice, on paper it is IMPRESSIVE.

I also found a surprise for the Glinoludy. The mayor not only supports them but also provides financial support—the amounts were mentioned. Ungrateful Glinoludy, bah!

And finally, the mayor’s favorite reading. They say that if you want to get to know a person, ask what they read. The titles listed surprised me. More than that, they even frightened me a little. For what would you say about the mayor having developed a taste for “The Mythology of a World Without Door Handles” and “The Time of Screaming Old Men”?

I am afraid that the mayor is making fools of us so that we end up in a room without door handles and shout at him from those quiet places until late in life.
