A masked person who was below the tracks committed an act of vandalism using a paint-spraying device.

As a result, a KD train was damaged, being covered in paint along its entire length; delays to rail traffic also occurred. The incident took place on line no. 275, on the section between Wrocław Leśnica and Mrozów stations.

Bogusław Godlewski, spokesperson for Koleje Dolnośląskie:

Friday’s incident was an organised act of vandalism that not only caused damage to the vehicle, delayed the train and made it necessary to withdraw it from service, but above all could have endangered railway traffic safety. The train was travelling at 130 km/h and approaching Wrocław Leśnica station.

The regional carrier’s authorities immediately reported the suspected crime, and also offered a cash reward of PLN 5,000 for help in apprehending the perpetrator.

B. Godlewski:

This was extremely irresponsible and dangerous behaviour that could have caused many negative consequences. Any sudden braking would have been extremely dangerous for passengers. Such acts must be categorically opposed, hence the decision to offer a reward for identifying the culprit.
