World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, which falls on November 18 this year, is dedicated to the memory of the many millions killed and injured in road accidents, as well as their families, loved ones and immediate circles.
Tribute is also paid on this day to emergency teams that provide assistance at accidents of this kind. These include, among others, traffic police officers and medical specialists.
World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims was established by the victims of road incidents themselves. The burden of grief and suffering faced by a huge number of people is all the greater because a significant proportion of the victims are young people.
Another important aspect is that many incidents could have been prevented. Recklessness, carelessness and disregard for traffic regulations are certainly factors that significantly affect safety. Let us be responsible on the road.
An average of as many as 8 people die on Polish roads every day, while more than 108 are injured. On this day, as in previous years, female and male traffic police officers will appeal for prudence and caution on the road.
On the roads of Bolesławiec County, from January to November 15 this year, there were 60 road accidents in which 7 people died and 71 were injured.
During the 12 months of 2017, 49 accidents were recorded in our county, resulting in the deaths of 11 people and injuries to 58. (In 2016, 11 people also died and 96 were injured in 80 accidents).
Police:
Let us remember that road safety largely depends on us ourselves. We appeal for caution and prudence.
