On Thursday, October 25, exercises were held at the Orlen fuel depot in Bolesławiec. They involved firefighters from the Bolesławiec headquarters, as well as members of Volunteer Fire Service units from our district operating within the National Rescue and Firefighting System.

The scenario for the exercises, which took place in heavy rain, was as follows: an explosion occurred at the Orlen depot. It was so powerful that a laboratory technician collecting samples from a fuel tank was seriously injured. The uniformed personnel had to help him and bring the fire under control.

As junior brigadier istotne.pl Andrzej Śliwowski, district commander of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec, told the service, the exercise site was chosen deliberately; the fuel depot is an important facility from the standpoint of fire safety.

Firefighters conduct exercises at facilities of this type regularly. Earlier this week, a similar exercise took place in the capital of Lower Silesia.
